The City of London has a Detached Additional Residential Unit (ARU) Forgivable Loan program offering up to $45,000 towards building a Backyard Home

Additional Dwelling Unit Incentive Program
The Additional Dwelling Unit Incentive program provides eligible homeowners with loan assistance of up to $25,000 or 75% of the total cost of the project, whichever is less, to create an additional dwelling unit at their home.

Government HST Rebate
You may be eligible to recieve up to a 13% Tax rebate for the HST paid on the build cost of oyur new Additional Residential Unit (ARU).

Oxford County’s My Second Unit helps homeowners plan and finance a secondary, self-contained dwelling unit in their home with an interest-free, forgivable loan of up to $30,000.

Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Program
The value of the grant is up to 70 per cent of eligible project costs incurred, to a maximum of $80,000 for exterior accessory dwelling unit(s).

The City of Cambridge’s Additional Residential Unit program provides a grant of up to $10,000.

Additional Dwelling Unit Program
City of Hamilton currently offers a 15-year Forgivable Loan of $25,000 per Additional Dwelling Unit.

Ontario Renovates Program
Recipients of the loan can receive up to a maximum of $25,000 per property. The loan is interest-free and forgivable after 15 years, provided there has been no default under the terms of the loan.
